Lovely!! I like how you handled the background very much. Did you use Painter or PSE? And I just had to leave a comment because of your beautiful pit bull – are they not the very best dogs in the world? Loves me my pit bulls! So nice to see them in art. ;-)

Pit bull. Interesting. We don’t know what Bud-Z is; however, we almost named him Bullet (our first dog was Mustang, and this guy is like a bull and extremely fast). We know he has chow, rotty, and German Shepard in him. I think he has Pit Bull in him, my husband thinks Bull Mastif; our vet thinks some Rhodesian Ridgeback.

You know, I had a sense of some Rottie, especially around the eyes and forehead and muzzle – I thought maybe a pit bull/rottie mix before. A lot of mixes of the dogs you mention end up looking very much like pit bulls, and I tend to see pit bulls everywhere, even when they aren’t there. ;-) It’s a disease (a love sickness perhaps). Anyway, really nicely done art!

Oh yes, in the original you can really see the German Shepherd and the chow tongue! And the head shape is rather more rottie than pit bull. He’s really cute and looks very sweet.
I like your fence solution, too.
You motivated me to post my first photos to Flickr. Thank you for that. What a cutie!!! And, Lori, I can really see why you think Pit Bull. There are certainly similarities. Regarding the fence, well, he managed to chew through part of it. We should have used a wire fence instead of heavy plastic.

Get a photo of your dog to use for inspiration and then doing a digital painting. I used brushes in Photoshop, but Corel Paint is excellent.
