500 Art Quilts

An Inspiring Collection of Contemporary Work by Ray Hemachandra and Karey Bresenhan
I’m happy to share that I will have two quilts — Squared Illusions 6 and Blushing Triangles 4 — in a new book called 500 Art Quilts. The book will be published in March 2010 by Lark Books. It will have 432 pages and measure 8×8 inches.
Lark Book describes it as, “A beautiful new addition to the successful series. A vibrant and growing community of crafters has embraced quilting, and this outstanding international collection will inspire and captivate them. Juried by Karey Bresenhan, one of the most prominent figures in quilting, it presents 500 magnificent contemporary art quilts, made in fabric and other media, and showcasing diverse designs, materials, and techniques. From their very inception, these quilts were destined for display rather than practical use, with an extraordinary quality of image, form, line, and composition.”
I love the quilt selected for the cover. I’ve seen this quilt some years back, and it arresting beauty stopped me in my tracks. I’m always so blown away by the talented people who are making quilted art, it’s humbling; so I’m very honored to have some work included in this collection.

Crafters???!!!! What is Lark thinking????? You are artists. While I am not an artist, I work VERY hard not to be a crafter…. I WAS a crafter in my twenties and thirties but now….. well is it too late to change that word that Lark “says xxxxx”

Congratulations, Gloria. And I agree about the cover: it IS arresting: such subtle nuances in the color and patterning.
