Creating a quote layout
I’ve been saving quotes to put into my journal, and the quote below is my latest. Here’s how I created the layout for it. First I typed the quote itself in Photoshop using a handwriting font. On another layer, I typed the name of the person who said the quote, using a small sans serif font (“Sans serif” means without the serif — such as the font used in this post). Putting the name on its own layer allows me to use the Move tool to place it where it looks best to my eye. On another layer, I then typed an open quote symbol and a closed quote symbol next to each other (either serif or sans serif will work, experiment to see which you like best). I then enlarged the quotes using the Transform tool (Edit > Free Transform). Once I liked the size, I then selected one quote and cut/paste it onto a new layer. I lowered the opacity, and used the Move tool to move the quote symbol towards the beginning of the quote, and I repeated and moved the second quote symbol towards the end. That’s it!
