The Keys – pt 5 – Keys Wild Bird Center
Back in Tavernier, we next headed to The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center in Key Largo. The center rehabilitates wild birds that have been injured. It also attracts a lot of birds that are healthy — especially during bird feeding time. The Center relies on donations. Sadly there is talk of closing the Center, which has been in operation for over 25 years, because of lack of donations. If you’d like to help the Center, donations can be sent to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, 93600 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, FL 33037 or to the Special Birds Only Account at First State Bank, 41 Jolly Roger Dr., Key Largo, FL 33037. The photo’s of the birds are wonderful!!! I have a D70 too and am thinking of getting a longer zoom. What did you use to shoot the birds? Or were you so close it didn’t matter?
Makes me want to go to the Keys again and enjoy the birds – think I’ll skip the glass bottom boat :-)

Thanks Jeanne. The D70 is a great camera! I’m going to be selling that body at some point as I got a D80 then a D90. The 70 was the backup to the 80, now the 80 is to the 90. However, that D70 is excellent! I use 18-200 VR Nikon lens. There is a new macro lens that I’m looking at. It’s reasonably priced. I look at some of the macro lenses and gasp at the price! But I pretty much keep the 18-200 on for nearly everything. It’s a great all purpose lens.
Yes, get back to the Keys! The boat? Well … hmmm .. :)
