I do not know anyone whom cancer has not affected.\u00a0 More than a year ago I had a diagnosis of a rare salivary gland cancer.\u00a0 I was extremely fortunate in that I received my diagnosis in a very early stage and surgery completely removed it from me; I am considered cured of that particular cancer.\u00a0 Others are not so fortunate and have endured long and difficult battles to combat their disease.\u00a0 Research dollars are desperately needed to continue to find ways to help provide better treatments that extend the quality of life and ultimately to provide a cure.<\/p>\n<p>Through <b>Fiberart For A Cause, <\/b>Virginia Spiegel, the mastermind behind the cause, has raised a total of $240,000.\u00a0 The goal with this fundraiser is to bring that total to the quarter of a million dollar mark.<\/p>\n<p>Please get involved and make a difference.\u00a0 Only 100 patrons can participate!\u00a0 Your donation will ensure that you will receive a piece of artwork created by one of the 100 participating international fiber artists.\u00a0 All artwork is valued at least $100, and the piece I am donating is worth more than three times that amount.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.virginiaspiegel.com\/FFACThe100Fundraiser.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fiberart For A Cause<\/a>.\u00a0 Please spread the word about this event!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m honored to announce that I am an invited artists for \u201cThe 100\u201d \u2013 a fiberart fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society \u2013 to be held on Wednesday, February, 4, 2015.\u00a0 The goal for this event\u00a0 is to raise $10,000 in one day.
