{"id":879,"date":"2008-10-28T09:39:40","date_gmt":"2008-10-28T13:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=879"},"modified":"2008-10-28T09:39:40","modified_gmt":"2008-10-28T13:39:40","slug":"qa-image-sizing-entry-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=879","title":{"rendered":"Q&#038;A: Image Sizing entry woes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I get a lot of similar questions in email that I thought I&#8217;d periodically summarize and add here to hopefully help others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Question:<\/strong> For a show submission, they require 1800 pixels on the longest side and 72 dpi.\u00a0 My image is 1400 x 1800 and 300 pixels per image.\u00a0 If I cange the 300 to 72, the pixels on the sides shrink to very little.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Answer: <\/strong>In the Image Size dialog box, uncheck &#8220;resample.&#8221;\u00a0 Resampling takes away or adds pixels.\u00a0 Thus, when you change 300 to 72, resampling tosses out the extra pixels and the resolution of the image shrinks.\u00a0 When you uncheck the resample box, the number of pixels do not change.\u00a0 Rather the size of the pixel changes.\u00a0 Bottom line:\u00a0 When going from a high ppi to a lower ppi, but keeping the resolution (or number of pixels in the document) the same, uncheck the Resample box.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I get a lot of similar questions in email that I thought I&#8217;d periodically summarize and add here to hopefully help others.
