{"id":6449,"date":"2011-10-05T20:42:05","date_gmt":"2011-10-06T00:42:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=6449"},"modified":"2011-10-11T00:33:50","modified_gmt":"2011-10-11T04:33:50","slug":"rip-steve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=6449","title":{"rendered":"RIP Steve Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6450 aligncenter\" title=\"Steve\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Steve.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Steve.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Steve-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tears are falling and my heart is aching, but I am forever grateful to this visionary man for all he did and all he inspired.<\/p>\n<p>I can talk for hours on how intertwined I am with Macintosh and Apple products; how they truly changed my life; how much joy I&#8217;ve had over the decades being involved with the Mac community, attending MacWorlds, waiting on what seemed like endless lines to listen to Steve Jobs speak at keynotes.\u00a0 Instead, I&#8217;ll say that I was one of the many heading to an Apple store to leave condolences, which is such a strange, strange thing to do.\u00a0 I&#8217;m feeling totally out of whack, which also doesn&#8217;t make much sense.\u00a0 And I feel incredibly sad, yet so grateful to have been a part of it all for a long time, although not nearly long enough.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dX9GTUMh490\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Here\u2019s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. &#8230;<br \/>\nBecause the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.<\/em>&#8221; &#8212;<br \/>\nThink Different ad campaign, Apple Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, Steve,\u00a0 for changing the world and for changing my world for the better.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UF8uR6Z6KLc\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve never viewed his 2005 Commencement Address at Stanford, you&#8217;re in for some inspiring words.\u00a0 In part,<em> &#8220;Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. <\/em>&#8230;<em> Remembering that I&#8217;ll be dead soon is the most important tool I&#8217;ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything &#8212; all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure &#8212; these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked.
