{"id":4934,"date":"2011-02-25T00:40:39","date_gmt":"2011-02-25T05:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=4934"},"modified":"2011-02-25T00:46:47","modified_gmt":"2011-02-25T05:46:47","slug":"art-concentrated-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=4934","title":{"rendered":"art concentrated and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kevan Lunney from the Fiber Revolution group came up with a concept a few years back called &#8220;art concentrated&#8221; wavy or whatever.\u00a0 Using acrylic paint on the edge keeps everything flat and true to size.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I&#8217;m going to try this with some other collages I&#8217;ve made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4937\" title=\"ACs-2-25-6\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ACs-2-25-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ACs-2-25-6.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/ACs-2-25-6-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Here are two other ACs that I made.\u00a0 The one on the left is a digital design printed on fabric.\u00a0 The one on the left is from a piece of fabric that I painted and digitally printed a month or so ago (it&#8217;s somewhere lower on the blog posts).\u00a0 I like how the paint is sort of crumbling off in places.\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to incorporate more of that type of paint crumbing off in larger work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I keep hoping that the smaller pieces will kick my butt into gear to make some larger work, as I am hungry to do some new large work.\u00a0 Instead, I joined a gym.\u00a0 What does a gym have to do with creating new art work, you wonder?\u00a0 Nothing.\u00a0 But every once in the while that kind of thing happens &#8212; I&#8217;ll want to do one thing and will then end up doing something totally unrelated.\u00a0 For example, I&#8217;ll need to work on my taxes and suddenly I&#8217;ll decide it&#8217;s time to wash the kitchen floor.\u00a0 So, the gym.\u00a0 I decided that since I work from home, and work often gets stressful, that I would leave my home and work out.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not that there isn&#8217;t workout equipment here, because one side of the basement is loaded with Rich&#8217;s stuff.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s not the same. I decided that physically leaving the house and working out would be a good way to let off steam.\u00a0 I imagined I&#8217;d come back refreshed and invigorated and raring to go.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Originally it was a no-brainer.\u00a0 I was going to Gold&#8217;s because it&#8217;s about a mile and a breath away.\u00a0 If I make the traffic light, it&#8217;s probably two minutes from my home.\u00a0 In the summer I could walk there.\u00a0 I imagined I could go there, work out for 45 minutes, and be home &#8212; all in less than an hour.\u00a0 However, Rich pointed out that there is a very large new gym about 5 miles away,\u00a0 a straight ride on a 55 mph zone road.\u00a0 He said, &#8220;Let&#8217;s go check it out.&#8221;\u00a0 We did.\u00a0 He loved the place.\u00a0 &#8220;It&#8217;s double the size, better equipment, more equipment, it&#8217;s brighter, it&#8217;s cleaner, open floor plan, two floors.&#8221;\u00a0 Then we were told that any member is able to give a free guest pass to anyone during the time the member is working out.\u00a0 Rich&#8217;s face brightened.\u00a0 &#8220;So I can go with her anytime for free?&#8221;\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 I reminded him he has equipment in the basement.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t care; he liked the idea that he could also go.\u00a0 I told him I didn&#8217;t care how big the gym was or how much equipment it had.\u00a0 Gold&#8217;s has what I need, and it also has T&#8217;ai Chi classes (something I did many years ago and would like to do again).\u00a0 Still, Rich&#8217;s face was lit up. &#8220;This place is great!&#8221;\u00a0 And, the place is less money, and there was some special (I&#8217;m always skeptical of the &#8220;unadvertised special&#8221;) going on so that there was no enrollment fee.\u00a0 Thus, about 1\/3+ less money.\u00a0 In the end, I joined the second gym.\u00a0 Yes, totally sucker punched.\u00a0 And if he read these works (nope, he never reads my blog; I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;s even seen my website), his mouth would drop and he would probably have his feelings hurt.\u00a0 But I was sucker punched.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It&#8217;s great while I&#8217;m there, but I haven&#8217;t yet learned how not to calculate in my mind the time wasted from 1.3 miles to 5.1 miles as I drive past Gold&#8217;s.\u00a0 Yes, I calculated the miles and the minutes. So much for getting rid of stress.\u00a0 And that place is loaded with young people which only hammers home me being over 50\u00a0 (note to self, get there earlier in the day while school is still in session).\u00a0 It&#8217;s almost depressing to the point of making me want to wolf down a full package of Stella Dora Breakfast Treats.\u00a0 And when I get home, I&#8217;m tired!\u00a0 And I&#8217;m sore.\u00a0 Yet, I&#8217;m keeping my eyes open for any specials at Gold&#8217;s.\u00a0 Will I actually waste money on a second membership because I don&#8217;t want to drive a few more miles?\u00a0 Am I nuts?\u00a0 Yet somehow in my strange manner of thought process, I think that would have a very positive effect on my personal artwork.\u00a0 &#8220;You belong to two gyms and you&#8217;re still not in shape?&#8221;\u00a0 Correct.
