To me, nothing says “Christmas is coming and the holiday season is here” more than Santa appearing at the end of the the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade held in NYC.\u00a0\u00a0 Every year I\u00a0 watch at least some of the parade, and I always try to catch Santa at the end of the parade.\u00a0\u00a0 This year was no different.<\/p>\n

Let me back up.\u00a0 Earlier Rich said, “There’s a turkey on the neighbor’s roof!”\u00a0\u00a0 I looked out, saw it, but I was sure it was some kind of a joke.\u00a0 Then I saw the wings flap.\u00a0 Quickly, Rich said “Shoot it, shoot it.”\u00a0 And I did what I generally do:\u00a0 I grabbed the camera to take a picture, taking it through a window using a zoom.<\/p>\n

There was a Nikon commercial some time back, I believe for the D70, where a rhino runs through a neighborhood.\u00a0 You hear a voice saying shoot it, shoot it.\u00a0 Then a man comes out with his Nikon and gets the shot of the rhino.\u00a0 It was to illustrate that the camera had\u00a0 none of the focus lag that plagues some digital cameras (especially the cameras from back then).\u00a0 Ever since then, it’s shoot it, shoot it, when something is photo worthy.<\/p>\n

Back to the turkey.\u00a0 I was so excited there was a turkey on the neighbor’s roof.\u00a0 We went outside to get a better look and take a few more pictures.\u00a0 I was happily talking about where the turkey came from, figuring someone from a nearby turkey farm set him free.\u00a0 As I was yapping, Rich said, “It’s not a turkey.\u00a0 It’s a turkey vulture.”\u00a0 A what? “A turkey vulture, and there are more.”\u00a0 Oh geesh.<\/p>\n

He pointed out two more on our other neighbor’s roof.<\/p>\n

Then three in another tree.\u00a0 Then, it seemed no matter what direction we looked, there were more.\u00a0 That was it for me. It was way too Hitchcock’s The Birds for my taste.\u00a0 Rich started laughing. “Shoot them, shoot them.”\u00a0 I told him he could shoot them.\u00a0 I was outta there.<\/p>\n

Back inside, the parade was still on the TV.\u00a0 As I was in another room, I shouted out, “Is Santa coming yet?”\u00a0 Rich said, “He’s coming.\u00a0 Quick.\u00a0 Get in here.\u00a0 Shoot him, shoot him.”\u00a0 I started laughing and thought, why not. \u00a0 I grabbed the camera and photographed Santa on the TV.\u00a0\u00a0 That’s right.\u00a0 That’s Santa on the TV.\u00a0 We had a good laugh over it, and it was way more fun then those vultures!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
