{"id":28,"date":"2008-02-13T01:27:36","date_gmt":"2008-02-13T05:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=28"},"modified":"2010-05-02T12:11:05","modified_gmt":"2010-05-02T16:11:05","slug":"puw-at-gabarron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/?p=28","title":{"rendered":"PUW at Gabarron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prior to the Parkinson&#8217;s annual <a href=\"http:\/\/unitywalk.org\" target=\"_blank\">Unity Walk<\/a>, held in NYC&#8217;s Central Park each year, there is a kick-off party to mark the event.  I&#8217;ve been fortunate to photograph the event for several years.  For the second year,  the event was  held at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gabarron.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gabarron Foundation<\/a> Carriage House Center for the Arts located at 149 East 38th Street in NYC.  The Foundation specifically serves the Spanish and American communities and specializes in exhibitions and various cultural activities.  It also serves as a meeting place for people and organizations.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab8.jpg\" alt=\"gab8.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Foundation is housed in an incredible building providing a beautiful space for exhibits.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab3.jpg\" alt=\"gab3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The fantastic spiral staircase captures my attention each time I see it.  One  of my journal quilts is based on a photograph that I&#8217;ve taken here.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab7.jpg\" alt=\"gab7.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab1.jpg\" alt=\"gab1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab6.jpg\" alt=\"gab6.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The current exhibit  is by Paco Caparros called &#8220;Photographic Hierographics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab5.jpg\" alt=\"gab5.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nPart of the gathering for the party listening to part of the presentation regarding the Unity Walk.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gloriahansen.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/gab4.jpg\" alt=\"gab4.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nAnyone for food?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prior to the Parkinson&#8217;s annual Unity Walk, held in NYC&#8217;s Central Park each year, there is a kick-off party to mark the event.
