This is the fifth in my Blushing Triangles series.\u00a0 It is 12″ x 12″ mounted on canvas and made for an invitational exhibit curated by Judy Dales and Kim Ritter. This geometric design started as a digital painting, and each version I’ve made is a different coloring, recolored using the airbrush tool in Photoshop, and by hand coloring the inkjet print on silk with D’uva pastels.\u00a0 The piece is heavily machine stitched.\u00a0 It’s a funny thing that I now enjoy such heavy stitching, but I find it very enjoyable — that is, when the machine is not misbehaving.<\/p>\n
Now, the bad news, at least for me.\u00a0 D’uva pastels are no longer being made.\u00a0 They haven’t been made in some time, but I had a good supply and didn’t realize they went the wayside. This stinks.\u00a0 The pastels were designed to be head-set.\u00a0 Then they were permanent.\u00a0 I used them on many of my quilts.\u00a0 I’ve done a search on Google and am buying up what I can find.\u00a0 Although, who knows, maybe a new, better product will appear on the market.\u00a0 I also have D’uva watercolors.\u00a0 They are very cool.\u00a0 They are mixable, erasable, and once heat-set becomes permanent.\u00a0 But, alas, they are no longer being made either.\u00a0 If anyone knows of a source that is still selling the pastels, let me know!\u00a0 Thanks.<\/p>\n
