My depiction of "The Queen of Sheba," made for the 2003-2005 "Women of Biblical Proportion" traveling exhibit, was created using a combination on digitally altered royalty-free images and original artwork. It was printed on silk fabric with pigment inks and textile paints. It is machine quited in rayons, metallics, and cotton threads.

Statement:

The Queen of Sheba's visit to King Solomon takes up only 13 lines in the Bible. Yet, for centuries, the Queen - reputed as a figure of wisdom and beauty - has inspired artists, writers, historians, and even countries. The royal throne of Ethiopa has long claimed direct descent from her, and present day Yemen is just as eager to claim her as their own. The queen is filled with mystery — What is her full name? Why are the ruins of the Sabaean temple of Awwan linked with the Queen? Which route did she travel to visit with King Solomon in Jerusalem? The answers remain covered by the ever-shifting sands.
