Playing with Lines "Shattered" is one of several
quilts I made that started with a line doodle. Here's how it was
made, starting with a single line.
Next, I drew two lines to create a right
angle. I then grouped the lines and duplicated them.
I rotated one set of lines to join the two sections to make a complete block.
Here's where the fun begins.
I pulled the blocks apart and began arranging them. If you're not using a computer drawing program, you can do this with pencil, paper, and tracing paper and a photocopier. But I assure you, the process is more tedious and time consuming.
I decided I on a three block by three block set.
I grouped the blocks, duplicated the set, and flipped it horizontally.
I then grouped all, duplicated, and flipped it vertically.
I added value to the original block
Then I did a fast duplication and layout with value.
Voila! From a simple line to a quilt design. Click here to see the finished quilt.
