My passions include art, photography, and technology, but I also have a solid business background. I work with a variety of traditional media (pencils, pens, paints, dyes, fabric, papers, and threads) and digital media, including software (Photoshop, Procreate, and other software) and hardware (Epson printers and Nikon cameras) to create my work. I've been honored to win well over 200 awards and my work been exhibited throughout the USA and in many countries, such as England, France, Spain, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Netherlands, Russia, Botswana, and others. My work has been featured in many magazines, books, calendars, a college textbook cover, and on TV. It is also in the permanent collection of the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky; the Chandler Center for the Arts in Chandler, Arizona; and several private collections.
I have also authored 15 books, was a tech columnist for an art/craft publication for nearly two decades, and have written well over 125 articles for a variety of publications. I was a co-founder of GloDerWorks, a web design and development company, and worked as an independent consultant/designer/website project coorindator. Under my guidance, Gloderworks won a Webby Worthy Award and two W3 Silver Awards from the International Academy of the Visual Arts. I am also an avid nature/bird photographer. News
2021:
I won the top prize in the 2021 Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge photography contest (sponsored by the Friends of Forysthe) for my image "Great Egret Takes a Bow" The Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge is one of the many beautiful places in New Jersey (and one of my absolute favorite places).
2020:
In late March 2020, I created SewToStop.org, a website designed to connect people willing to sew fabric face masks with hospitals/facilities in need. It includes an interactive map, video tutorials, and more. I also created an accompanying Facebook group. As a group, we have made and donated well over 30,000 masks. While face masks are now generally available for purchase, and many hospitals no longer have the need for home-made facemasks, the site remains for people still willing to sew for facilities serving low-income and disadvantaged individuals, senior homes, and others in need.
